Kripalu yoga in New York City, for anyone carrying too much.
This practice doesn’t ask you to perform
AKYTARA is Kripalu-rooted yoga in New York City, drawing on Hatha and breathwork. Inward, supported, paced to you. It begins with the breath and opens into gentle movement that lets a busy mind settle. No pushing, no straining, nothing to fix.

A donation-based Kripalu class in Central Park, Saturdays at 9am. Open to everyone, beginners most of all.
Learn about the class
I’ve practiced yoga for twenty years, not as a class I attended, but as the thing I came back to through every demanding season. I know what it is to be accomplished and depleted at the same time.
That’s what drew me to Kripalu. Swami Kripalu taught what he called the householder path: yoga built for people who stay in the world rather than step out of it. That’s who I teach. I trained in this tradition so I could put it in your hands.

I’ve sat in those rooms. I know what a depleted team looks like from the inside, and how to give them an hour back. Corporate and team sessions across NYC.

“This class is where I come back to myself. The highlight of my week.”
Teddy Graham · Upper East Side
Some things don’t happen in a group class. Working one to one, we build a Kripalu practice around where you actually are, your stress, your sleep, the week you’re really living.
Accomplished, capable, and running closer to empty than you let on.
A room full of people isn’t restful. You would rather be met where you are.
Not a generic sequence. A practice built around your body, your week, your stress.
For a while now. Something always crowds it out. This is a way in.

“Having Tara come to my apartment makes it so easy to fit yoga into my week. Every session leaves me feeling calmer, more present, and completely recharged.”
Mary Tripp · Upper West Side
